Annual Fall Quilt Retreat

A note about COVID guidelines: We will be doing our best to follow all health and safety guidelines in order to maintain a safe and fun environment for everyone. Trying to plan for the future in these uncertain times is difficult, but we are doing our best! If need be, we will plan to practice safe distancing, masking, and sanitizing! The Annual Fall Quilt Retreat

This will be our 3rd Annual Fall Quilt Retreat. These quilt retreats are a sit-and-sew style retreat where you bring your projects and your friends and come together for a fun weekend! We will enjoy some get-to-know-you games, some giveaway goodies, some door prizes and, of course, lots of quilting! Last fall (2020) we were unable to continue with our planned retreat due to the COVD-19 pandemic. So we will continue with our lemons theme of “Squeeze The Day”! We will also be offering a couple of classes/tutorials (some at no additional cost)! You just have to sign up for it! Tell your friends, bring the gang! We have a lot of quilt retreat time to make up for!

2021 Quilt Retreat Details

When: Thursday, September 16th – Saturday, September 18th, 2021
Where: Clarion Inn – 4328 William L Wilson FWY, Harpers Ferry, WV 25425
Cost: $225/pp. A $75 deposit will be required upon registration to secure your place at the retreat. The remaining balance will be due by August 1st, 2021.

Our quilt retreats are set up in a gorgeous ballroom for three full days! This hotel is nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. We are close to historic Harper’s Ferry, WV and the scenic Appalachian Trail! Harper’s Ferry is the merging point for the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers, so there are no shortages of gorgeous views within a 5 minute drive. Perfect for that “quilts in the wild” picture you’ve been wanting!

What’s Included in the Annual Fall Quilt Retreat?

In addition to the meeting space we will be using for the quilt retreat, your cost will cover several other items. All lunches will be provided through your retreat fee. Dinners will be “on your own”. We will provide a list of great local restaurants for you to get out and try! There is also an on-location restaurant, if you don’t care to venture out. For those of you who are staying in the hotel, your breakfasts will be included with your room. Also included are several classes/tutorials that you can sign up for (some at no additional cost). And don’t forget the best part- giveaways and door prizes!

If you are local, you may choose to stay in your own home at night and have breakfast there. You can join us for the quilt retreats during the day. If you are not local, you will need to book a room with the hotel. Be sure to call and book your reservation in advance. There is a group rate of $98/night for a double occupancy room (two double beds). So I would suggest bunking up. Let us know if you are coming alone and would like a roommate to share the cost with. Quilt Retreat Sign-Ups

Improv Quilting: Let’s talk about the different variations of improv quilting and how to get that look you want. So, bring your scraps, because we will be putting into practice what we learn! This will be taught by retreat organizer, Kiley Ferons.

Foundation Paper Piecing for Beginners: Get a step by step walk-through foundation paper piecing and how to sail through it with ease! This will be taught by national quilt class teacher, Annette Ferons.

Boho Rows Quilt Pattern by Kelli Marshall from Simply MackBeth. She will walk you through all the techniques used in her quilt which include keeping skinny strips straight, half square triangles and flying geese (this quilt pattern has not yet been released for purchase).

Barn Quilt Class: (extra cost) Tired of quilting? Probably not, but here’s a different kind of quilting! Learn how to paint your favorite quilt blocks on a piece of wood to proudly put on display anywhere in your home! This will be taught by our local friend, Jennifer Van Vliet. This fun class is $30 and includes everything you need to complete your work of art!

Massage: (extra cost) Take a moment for yourself and sign up for a chair massage from our favorite masseuse, Deborah! It is $1/minute with a minimum of 10 minutes!
